Visa for newborn child in India

Post by abhijoshi09 » Thu Nov 25, 2010 8:52 pm

Hello experts,

I am on Work Permit visa (Tier2), and my wife is on Work Permit Dependent visa.

We are expecting a child in March and my wife is in India for delivery. I am planning to bring my wife along with baby back t o UK sometime around May-June.

My question is - Will there be any problem for my child to get UK visa (Work Permit Dependent) if we apply it from India ? This is especially important with these new rules being changed on daily basis by UKBA.

Appreciate the help. Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Abhijit Joshi

Location: does it matter?
United Kingdom

A visa is a visa, so why would there be a problem if the child is granted one -from outside the UK or from within?

Thanks for replying.

Okay, so it does not matter whether it's applied from India or UK.

My major concerns was that - my wife will be staying more than 6-7 months away from UK. She has already for Work Permit dependent visa, but after staying out of UK for so long, will there be a problem for obtaining visa for child.

But from your post, it seems that, it shouldn't be a problem. Thanks.

If the child is born in India, then applying for entry clearance from India is the only option.

Do you have a work permit or Tier 2?

Thanks for the question. I was on vacation, so could not answer.

I have Work Permit (issued in 2008 and valid till 2013).

My wife is due in March 2011, so she will be returning to India in about June - July 2011, so I will have to file visa and entry clearance for my child in May or June 2011.

As per your note above, I just need entry clerance. And there should not be any problem. Right ?
