British passport for child born out side of the U.K

Post by bpandrate » Sun Dec 12, 2010 12:55 am

Hi All,

I have got my ILR/PR through 5yr W.P in Feb2010,i hope to apply for Naturalisation in March 2011. ( Can i actually be eligible to apply in March 11?).

My question is, that i have a 6yr old son is in back home country,he has been always living there, never been to U.K or lived in U.K.
Now am planing to get him to U.K with me,Can some one advise me how to proceed in terms of his visa or applying passport etc.,
1.Can i apply british passport for him from my home country it self? or
2 . Should i get him here on depandant vis than to british regestraiton?

I appriciate your valuble advise
thank you

1. No, unless child is British at the time of his birth.
2. He may apply for a child settlement visa, subject to maintenance and accommodation requirements. See also sole responsibility if child's other parent is alive and not in/coming to the UK.
