Accomodation for Tier 2 dependants

Post by mt_dilber » Mon Dec 13, 2010 10:05 pm

Hi,
I realize that proof of accommodation is required while sponsoring Tier 2 dependents. But i don't get the point why u have to pay rent etc before visa is granted;
for example i want to bring my two kids 6 yrs and 3 yrs and my wife. I would have to rent a 2 bed house and pay deposit,bond and rent double than i am paying right now for single room.
My question is, can i get tenancy agreement stating ''moving in'' date 2 months ahead? as no one know how long it would take to process application.

Agreements are normally subject to negotiation. However, most landlords probably won't want to wait two months.

I agree. but my question targets UKBA. as far as landlord is concerned that would be sorted out on my side. I just want to know whether it would be acceptable for UKBA.

I am in the same boat and sent a similar query before but the mods seemed to be not interested in replying to such a query. 1st of all, I would have liked to see this requirement clearly mentioned in the dependent visa policy guidance or any documentation. I have also found people getting rejected based on silly issues like not providing a rent payment receipt/ rent payment not reflected in current account transactions, even though a valid rental agreement was provided. I think we will have to pay for the recovery of the poor UK economy and UKBA is making sure that they maintain a good income, honestly or dishonestly.

Hi mkh and mt_dilber,

With regards to your query renting a property before applying for dependent visa.

On policy guidance it is clearly mentioned that the sponsor can appropriately accommodate the dependents. Therefore it is not necessary to rent full two bedroom house. A good size double bed room in a house for a couple is sufficient enough. Provided the whole house is not over crowded.

In your case as you have children as well you could provide a tenancy agreement which shows you are renting two double bedrooms.

I would suggest you to speak to your existing landlord and have a tenancy agreement for two bedrooms in the same house.

Regards
