Try just after 9am or 4:45pm. Apart from these times it is just impossible to speak with the HO. Good luck!chelseaM wrote:Hi everyone,
Congrats to those of you who got your PR already!I'm still waiting..
Applied on 01/10/10
Got COA on 15/10/10.
Heard nothing since. Tried to call them but can never get through on the number ending 5200. Most of you seem to have managed to speak to someone. Any other number you guys have been calling?! please advise.
Many thanks
Hi ChelseaM,Thanks. The expire date in all PR are 10 years but of course I wont wait for this as I'm already planning to apply for BC. So we all can meet in the forum of BC and suffer a little bit more together (lol). Best of luck!chelseaM wrote:@ Lisus -Congrats! Must feel great after all this time. By the way, what's the exp. date on your PR (if any)?
@ easy77- if you got them to put a note on your file that should get things moving. They might speed up the process just so that you don't call them any more. Just try not to let the whole waiting thing bring you down, you are getting there.
Form EEA4 is for a permanent residence card.lourrans wrote:i intend to apply for Residence Permit ( EEA4 form ) next month.
Tax credits must be applied for jointly. If she is really receiving money as a single mum that may actually be benefit fraud. I guess you will have to resolve this issue first with HMRC.lourrans wrote:we have a 4 year old kid just realised that she gets tax credits ( i think as a single mom ).
You really have to read what I have written above. The application form for tax credits clearly asks for the partner's data and their immigration status. By not putting you in she declared that she is a single mother which is obviously wrong (and may be construed as fraud, I think). You both are actually entitled to tax credits. The worst that obviously could happen is that she ends up in front of a judge. Contact HMRC as soon as possible and see how you can work that out with them.lourrans wrote:whats the worst that could happen regarding the tax credits, she didnt do it intentionally. because i am not entitled to public funds ( i think ) she dind put me in the application.
whats the best way to sort it out? and how could it affect my application for residency?
lourrans wrote:Hi All
I am new to the site and could really use some help.
my wife is portuguese and we have been married for 5 years now.
i intend to apply for Residence Permit ( EEA4 form ) next month.
we have a 4 year old kid
just realised that she gets tax credits ( i think as a single mom ).
would that affect my application based on the fact that she is my sponsor?
and if it does, how bad is it? and how can i fix it?
really appreciate all help with this matter..

I suggest to be a little bit more careful giving such advice. They would have been perfectly ok applying for tax credits (and receiving them under certain conditions) if it had been a joint application. The problem is that the wife has claimed as a single mum which probably means that she has received more money than what she was actually entitled to. Whether that could be construed as unreasonable burden to the state or not I do not know but I still think that the falsely made claim should be first sorted out with HMRC.Lisus wrote:So, for you have your PR, you should be living here in UK in a period of 5 years without any help from the government apart from the tax credit, as I already told before,it is fine.
