MAINTENANCE FUNDS at Cooperative banks in India

Post by balaji.kaas » Wed Feb 02, 2011 12:24 pm

Hi ,
I had applied for the HSW Tier 1 (General) visa on November 18, 2010. My application was refused under section 245C by the Entry Clearance officer and I had received the refusal notice on 29th December, 2010. I applied for administrative review with following explanations on 31 December 2010. But I have not received any reply from them till now. Please find below the ECO's comments and my explanations.

THE ENTRY CLEARANCE OFFICER COMMENTS UNDER MAINTENANCE FUNDS ATTRIBUTE:
You have claimed 10 points for your maintenance and produced a letter from the Pudukkottai district central co-operative bank ltd. This document has not been considered because the issuing bank is not regulated by the Reserve Bank of India. You have not provided the specified document to support your claim of 10 points.

You have submitted copies of your Bank of India pass book. However the balance in the account does not show that you are in possession of £2800 and/or that you have held these funds for the period specified in the guidance. You have not, therefore, scored 10 points under appendix C and I refuse your application under paragraph 245C (d) of the immigration rules.

MY EXPLANATION:
I am maintaining funds continuously for more than three months in The Pudukkottai District Central Co-Operative Bank Ltd Account since 02nd August 2010 in the form of Fixed Deposits. The Cooperative banks in India started functioning almost 100 years ago. The Cooperative bank is an important constituent of the Indian Financial System, judging by the role assigned to cooperative, the expectations the cooperative is supposed to fulfill, their number, and the number of offices the cooperative bank operate. Though the co operative movement originated in the West, but the importance of such banks have assumed in India is rarely paralleled anywhere else in the world. The cooperative bank’s in India plays an important role even today in rural financing. The businesses of cooperative bank in the urban areas also have increased phenomenally in recent years due to the sharp increase in the number of primary co-operative banks. Cooperative Banks in India are registered under the Co-operative Societies Act. They are governed by the Banking Regulations Act 1949 and Banking Laws (Co-operative Societies) Act, 1965.
