Regarding Self Employment and Tier 1 (General)

Hi Everyone,

I am currently on PSW visa and want to switch it to Tier 1(HSMP). Basically, I am working in two jobs and also registered with self employment since my gross income was less with two jobs, I registered with self-employment and started teaching GCSE, A-levels and undergrad students from home.

My questions are

1. Does H.O will make problem if i am working in two jobs and also self employed.
2. In Tier 1(general HSMP) application form they ask me to mention my main job title, so should i include self employment or my two jobs whose income is less.
3. With self employment i am paying my NI contributions but haven't recieve my UTR number till now so is it a problem to submit my application without UTR?
4. Registered with self employment but not registered as company is it ok with H.O. and i am getting my teaching fee in my personal a/c is it ok or it should be in business a/c.


Please help me out as i m really confused and dont know wat to do, the only help i can get is from you guys..... so please do reply....

You can do as many job you want and aslo be a self -employed

If you are mentioning E26, you need to mention both Employed and Self-Employed (Even though it states Employed (or) Self Employed), I have personally checked with Home Office and confirmed the same

With regards to UKBA, Class2 NI Contribution Bill and Proof of payment is sufficient, no need for UTR number (However you may need UTR number before submitting tax to HMRC)

You will be a sole trader if you have registered as self-employed.
Mention this in your accountant letter and your cover letter,
Personal accounts are fine as long as they can proof your earnings

Thank you very much for replying me and easing of my tension. I just need to ask you one more thing with regarding to Tier 1 general (HSMP) application form

1. The B27 section in application form give us certain categories to be selected like Teacher and research professional, health professional, etc since my main occupation being self employment do i need to tick category related to self employment or my employment.

2. Also in B28 section it ask about current job title so should i include my employment title in that case i m working 2 jobs which job title should i mention or whether i say i m self employed and my title being tutor.

Plz help me out as your help can make my application better....

You can omit B27 since it is asking 'IF APPLICABLE'
if you wish you can select the closest occupation relatin to your self-employment

B28 - You can choose any of your two employment Title, preferably most time spending job
