How long before we need to apply for Tier 1 extension

How long before we need to apply for Tier 1 extension

Hi All,

This might have been discussed before but I could not find a related post so asking again. My tier 1 extension is due in Dec 2011. How many months before i need to apply for extension if I am applying by post. Is there any benefit of applying in person as far as time scales are concerned. Plz advise.

Ideally, apply no earlier than a month before your current leave is due to expire.
