UK Ancestry - initial absence greater than 90 days to the UK

Post by ajackett » Tue Jun 14, 2011 1:03 am

Hi everyone,

I've just had my UK Ancestry visa granted, which I am stoked about!!!

However, I put on my application that my travel date was to be August, and a comment saying that I wanted my visa to start from that date.

Unfortunately it has my start date as 6th June 2011, so it was obviously the date they processed it last week.

I do not arrive into the UK until mid-August at which point I will then be travelling through Europe until the end of September, staying about 5 days in UK over that time.

Pretty much, it means that in the first 100 days of my Visa starting I will only be in the UK for 5 days.

I presume this will impact negatively on me down the track if I ever want to apply for indefinite leave to remain? Is there anything at all I can do now (apart from arriving earlier or not travelling Europe)?

Cheers

If you specified an actual date in August, then ask the Embassy/High Commission to correct their error. Else, see also Indefinite leave to remain - calculating continuous period in UK. Try to initially enter the UK within three months.
