there is no harm to call HO just to get some information about your iformation if they need any more documents or need more assistence form something will come out soon and hope it will be good news.

They are always , last year they say 80000 people were awarded citizenship, so UKBA received about £68 millions

in the October -2010, it took only 5 week (end to end including passport ) on my case.

but now for my wife case it has taken around 10 week (end to end )

I rang Home office today for an update as could no longer resist the temptation.
My time line is

Date of App reached HO: 28th April 11
Type: Joint Naturalization App
Criteria : HSMP (JR) + ILR (req on basis of Backdated ILR)

They advised that my app is still in queue and not yet allocated to Case Worker. I queried further and asked if there is any back log of app, the lady advised me that there is no back log its just the applications that are awaiting allocation to case worker. She further mentioned that the current average is 3 months however their timeline is 6 months.

Does the number of applicants (ie in a family application) affect greatly the time it takes for an approval to come through?

It looks like April applications are being looked at at an impressive speed, but don't want to get my hopes too high too soon!

It is hard not to...as you think, hmmm, I could be one of those unlucky ones that's stuck waiting longer. :/ As nice as it is to see even a May applicant get approved, it really strikes me as unfair to still have some March and April applicants waiting. There really is no rhyme or reason to the way they do things it seems.

Unfortunately you have to go to a ceremony at your council, unless you requested and were allocated a different one.
August is crazy though! Maybe you could look into a private ceremony at your council?
