How much do I need to show for spousal visa

Post by doctordoctor » Fri Dec 03, 2010 9:27 pm

Hi, I recently received ILR and am planning to apply for a spousal visa for my wife of 2 years. How much funds do I need to show in my account? I earn roughly 17k pa, would my last 3 pay slips be enough? kindly advise.

You don't necessarily need to show savings but you must submit evidence that you will have a minimum of £102.75 remaining weekly after you have paid rent or mortgage, council tax and any loan/credit repayments. Regarding payslips, it depends where your wife will be submitting her application. Some require 6 months, others will accept 3.
Also bear in mind that your wife will need to take the pre-entry English exam before she applies, unless she is resident in one of the countries shown as exempt.

Why would being a doctor make any difference. The UKBA Regulations will be the same.
By the way...for anyone following this, the minimum weekly sum required has risen to £105.95 since the previous posts were made in this thread.

three things.

1. i've booked a seat for uk medical license exam for 27 sep and i need to get my visa before that.

2. the deadline to show proof of work permit for national foundation prog for doctors commencing aug 2010 uk is 7th oct so if i get my visa after that date, i might not be able to work in the uk for the next two years

3. im still unsure about my degree fullfiling the english language requirement. it was taught solely in english nut i am not sure if attaching a copy of your mbbs degree is enough or you have to get a comparability evidence from NARIC

You really need to start your own thread on this as it bears no relevance whatsoever to the original question posted here.
However...1 and 2. No one on the forum can tell you when your visa will be issued, so I'm not sure what advice you need here.
3. You need a NARIC comparability certificate.
