Thanks all.
rnr79 - I called HO last week and I was said that I should receive my ack letter this week. The post came today w/o the letter so I called them again to find out what's happening - that's when I was given the update!
I don't see any issues if you wish to call them either today or next week! but its your choice obviously.

a quick question guys.
How can I find out which council/registrar office will be responsible for my ceremony?
I haven't filled any preference in the Naturalisation form

Then by default the council for your residential adress will be the one where your ceremony will be held

after you guys suggested i called HO late afternoon yesterday and shockingly the answer was that my application is awaiting consideration and when i asked if initial checks were completed then advisor said no and my application hasnt gone throguh any process at all. Even thoguh in the last week of June I was told that its going throguh intial checks but the latest status says nothings done...dont know why they take so long even to start processing of certain applications

thanks shs213
rnr79 - sorry to hear that... it can be annoying especially when you have applied so long ago and nothing has been done yet...
I'd say call again after 2 weeks if you haven't heard from them
Best Wishes

Yes its so annoying, i can understand each application takes different time once processing is started but not starting processing of the application even after 9 weeks is ridiculous.

Thank you all for your concerns and suggestions. Alhamdulillah i have good news. Yesterday i received an approval from UKBA. It was a really long wait ! Absolutely relieved now. Still dont know why it took sooo long
I called them ten days ago, but the reply from the other side wasnt very encouraging and he said that six months "isnt the maximum time" !!??
as they say ,all is well that ends well. I pray that all those who are waiting get their positive reponses quickly too

Just called UKBA this morning to follow up on my family application (Me and wife AN, my daughter MN1) which was submitted on Friday 10 June at NCS Sutton (and received by UKBA on 13 June). Was informed that decision was made on 13 July and that we will receive this in the post shortly.
Just to encourage everyone - I initially called 12 July (last week) and was told I needed to relax as I had only applied a month prior and that it may take up to 6 months. Just felt like following up today and got this news.
Here's hoping everyone waiting receives good news very shortly!
