family visit visa

Post by travelerzee » Tue Jul 19, 2011 2:01 pm

hi there,

i'm on a tier 1 visa. my mom plans to visit me for 7 weeks. I've had a look at the family visitor application form. We are not sure what to put for the the question:

How long do you want your visa to be valid for?
on the application form, there is no option to write 7 weeks. She can only tick one of the following boxes: 6 months/ 1 years/ 2 years/ 5 years/ 10 years.

The follow-on question is then: what time period should I put in the invitation letter? should I send a letter for 7 weeks?

thank you

The boxes refers to the different validity periods of visitor visas. The fees differ for each period.

Frequency and duration of visits are a separate matter.

If she's only visiting for a certain period, then you can put that down in your invitation letter.

The minimum time is 6 months and therefore you would select this (determines the visa fee etc).

The next box below asks for the dates your mum wants to travel, here you can state 7 weeks and also in your sponsorship letter.
