Self employed earnings - Complicated case

Post by sureshep » Tue Aug 09, 2011 11:47 am

Hi,

I have recently registered myself as "Self Employed" person. I am about to get the documentation and things in one place. My Tier 1 extn is due on Nov 18th.

I have below set of queries. Please advise and provide your valuable inputs.

1. I am planning to send the postal application. What is the tentative timelines for the decision and return my passport back to me. And is it better to apply 2 months in advance since mine is the postal application since their could be usually any delays and to be safer side ?

2. Other thing I have is - I am doing a IT contract of daily rate of 200 pounds from Jan 2011 to date. However, the payment date from Ltd company is not fixed and there were delays in the payments. For eg:

Jan 2011 salary - Credited on Feb 15th.
Feb 2011 salary - Credited on Mar 25th
March 2011 salary - Credited on April 28th
April 2011 salary - Credited on May 25th.
May 2011 salary - July 6th
June 2011 salary - Credited on Aug 5th
July 2011 salary - Yet to get

Moreover, sometimes salary got deposited in Sunday.

Howfar, this will effect my case ? Will there be any issues in payment date or preparing salary slips, invoices to Ltd company ?

3) How to calculate the expenses ? How to show these expenses ?
I usually, get the flat 200 pounds rate per day to my personnel bank account.

My payment details to bank account :
Feb 15th - 3000 amount
Mar 25th - 3264
April 28th - 6786
May 25th - 4698
July 6th - 4060
Aug 5th - 3000

Total = 24808 deposited till date.

How UKBA calculates the gross salary for self employed person ? Can I show this entire 24808 as earnings ? Will I need to deduct the expenses from this 24808 and show that amount as gross salary ? Which could be around 22 K.

I have check the UKBA calculator, I need to show 21 K as per my age, qualification. However, to be on safer side - I am planning to show 25 K.

I am in the stage of getting documentation in first place and I do not wanted have any risks.

Please share your experience and help me in getting my extension.

Looking forward to your kind responses.

Regards,
