MN1 references

Post by kna872 » Wed Aug 10, 2011 3:02 pm

Hello,

I am applying for my daughter's citizenship , who is 11 months old, under section 1(3). However, I am unable to get the professional referee as stated in form MN1.

I spoke to the community support worker who knows my daughter personally, but she refused to sign on that ground that she called the HO and they told her that she had to know my child or me for 2 years in order to be a referee. I personally couldn't find such a condition anywhere on the HO website.

I contacted the health visitor, and she refused saying she ' wasn't allowed' to sign such documents. I am lost and do not know where to go from here.

Would anyone please advise what other persons can be contacted for reference in professional capacity?

Thank you.

p.s . The minister of religion is my brother in law. Can I have him as a referee?

The HO gave her wrong advice. Surely she can't know a 11 months old baby for 2 years...

Anyway, the HO is not so strict on the referees in applications for young children under section 1(3). I suggest you call the HO and ask for advice.

If you apply via NCS, they might be more strict and insist you have referees.

Your brother in-law can not act as referee as the referee should not be related to the child.

I couldn't find professional referee either for both my kids under 10.
I phoned them before handing in forms at NCS. The NCS staff again phoned them during the interview. Both times it was said the registration is acceptible with a letter for explanation.
I got the certificates a month later.

So, if you are still in doubt, phone them.

Thank you for yoru response bitterweb, are you saying that I should call home office or NCS?

And did you get two ordinary references instead? And posted the application with the letter of explanation?

Phone home office, that's what I did.

The NCS staff was not sure so he phoned HO again during the interview.

I just used two friends for referees. Neither of them is on the professtional list.

The letter just said GP and headerteacher refused to sign for the sake of privacy, apart from stating the context.

My kids are under 10. So this may not work otherwise.

I applied with the references who had not known my daughter for 2 years and explained this with a covering letter.

She now has a passport.

I am grateful for the responses and help.
