Can registrar accept document(birth certificate) in Polish

we are applying for a marriage license next week. My fiance's birth certificate is in Polish, do we need to have it translated to English?
She does not have a passport, just an ID card, that is why we were asked to produce a birth certificate.

Not sure what the procedure is. Most registrars are super strict.

As far as I know, you'd probably have to obtain some type of official translation, I don't know if embassies offer such a service.

I would have thought the non-EU national would be the bigger issue than the polish one. But if you say it is a new regulation, then it is just ridiculous. I was told only UK citizens were required to show birth certificates if they did not have any travel documents. Strange.

We were rejected first time because ID card did not state nationality. We went back with a translated BC and everything was ok. Translation doesn't have to be done professionally. Just by a third party is what we were told.
