English test mandatory for Tier 1 Extn

Hi,

I am going to apply my Tier 1 visa extn in July 2012. Do i need to clear English test exam to prove to get points for English language requiremnt.

Whily applying my Tier 1 visa in India I showed my degree taught in English.

You can show the same proof which you have showed in your inital application, the university degree.

You don't require to take English test. You can select the option "Evidence previously provided with the applicant’s initial Tier 1 (General) application" in Application Page # 33.

I had the same question, mine is coming up for renewal end of the year.

As per the new requirements, I thought we now had to do an english language test even for extensions or have I got this wrong?

I had shown the Masters Degree taught in English for the initial application in 2010.

Also had a question on Biometric residence permit. I assume we need to apply for that as well at the time of the Tier 1 extension if we dont already have one?

If you initially satisfied the requirement with "taught in English" then it will be same in extension. So no English test for extension.

@params - Yes, I did look through the forum and there was a post a while ago that suggested we needed to do the English test. As there was a different response here, I asked for another opinion and am sure there isn't a problem with that. If nobody is sure or feels it's been answered (like the many posts that have been asked multiple times) it will be unanswered.

P.S - please respond if you would like to help clarify people's queries. If you think the same query has been answered, you can say so and i dont suppose that this is a forum to be rude. Although I see the point about searching the forum (which I did), I believe the tone of your response is in poor taste. I will not be responding further on this topic about reading the forum as we digress from the main issue. Also note that this thread with the topic wasn't started by sherkhan297

application before they have taken, or

there is no change in who is required to take the test - the only change is that those (referred to in para 139) who are required to take the test, were previously permitted to make their application bfore taking the test and/or recieving the results - the UKBA are saying that they will now have to provide the results with the application.
