Hi
Could some one please advise as to how do I go about getting visa stamped on my child's passport?
The child was born in the UK and has just got her new passport from the embassy of my home country.
I am an HSMP holder due to get the same renewed in January. Is it possible to get the visa for the kid at the same time or before that? What is the process in either case? Is there any financial implication here?
Any body with similar experience?
Thanks

I would think you contact the Home Office:
http://www.ind.homeoffice.gov.uk
When are you due to get ILR? Once you have ILR then the child can
immediately be registered as a British citizen.

Since January is just round the corner, I would advise you to wait until then and send your baby's passport along with yours when you apply for the HSMP extension. There will be no additional charge for the baby's visa which will be issued in line with your extension.
If you apply for the baby's visa now, it will only be given until the end of your initial HSMP visa and you will again have to apply for an extension for the baby along with your extension application.
The second option will mean unnecessary hassle and additional costs.

JAJ & Smith,
I know of a lady who had a baby a couple of months ago. The baby is 10 months old and both parents are foreign student.
They have renewed their visa once the baby was born without including the baby because they did not know the baby needed a LTR to stay in the country. They have also in the past couple of days sent their FLR (S) for extension without the baby but I pointed this out to them that it can be a problem in the future.
I'm I right or they can apply for extension under FLR(O) for the baby when their permits are issued?
Thanks for your advise and clarification.

I think, in practice, it is not a problem for the baby not yet having a visa in their passport ... unless of course the family intend to take the baby out of the UK, and then need to get the baby back into the UK. In that circumstance the baby will need a visa ... before making that journey.

The UK born child will not be illegal and you can apply for the baby's visa along with yours in Aug. 2007.
Infact, the only reason a visa would be required is if the child was to go abroad and come back to the UK, otherwise, there is no requirement for a child born in the UK to "foreigners" to have any UK visa.
