Visa for new born child born outside uk

Post by jazbaati99 » Fri Oct 20, 2006 4:24 pm

Dear all

Appologies if this question has been asked before. I was unable to find information. My self and my wife currently hold ILR and are expecting our child in a couple of weeks. We decided to have the child in my Pakistan due to the support network of family and friends we have there.

Can you please explain the steps involved in obtaining visa for the new born?

1) Will it be a two years settlement visa or ILE?
2) Which forms to fill in, will it be VAF2, if so do I need to sign it my self?
3) Supporting documents, though I am planning to use bank statments for six months, tenancy agreement, marriage certificate and anti natal records etc.

As always any help is highly appreciated.
Regards

I really wish I'd seen this post earlier ..

hope you got on ok and not too much trouble from the BHC etc.

I would have advised against giving birth outside this country as it would have avoided the need for another visa (and the expense along with the uncertaintity of getting a positive outcome)

How did you get on m8?

Cheers

Hello,

Well, if one of the parents is British Citizen, a child will be a British Citizen by Descend. That means is you child carries on to live outside of the UK his/her children will not be British Citizens.

Alrearnatively, if the child is back in the UK (VAF2 application form - LTE for 2 years --- then registration of a child as a British Citizen via MN1 form, provided if one of the parents is a British Citizen/settled in the UK), the child's chidlren will be British citizens.

Not sure what you're getting at here...

The first paragraph is almost accurate - you have omitted the vital requirement that, in order to transmit British citizenship to a child born outside UK, the parent needs to be a British citizen otherwise than by descent. However, the original poster has made it clear that both he & his wife held ILR, which is incompatible with British citizenship. So I cannot see the relevance of the point you are making.

Turning to your 2nd para, it is true that the Home Office would be likely to register the child once one of the parents has acquired British citizenship. However, mere settlement in the UK by one/both parent(s) would not be sufficient for the Home Office to register the child. As NIs say "It will rarely be right to register a child neither of whose parents is or is about
to become a British citizen

Im sorry if this is the wrong place to post but im new. I was wondering, Im a British Citizen and im planing to bring my wife and two children into the UK. One of them was born in the UK and has a British passport but the other one was born outside of the UK in Egypt, he was born before i received citizenship. My question is how much I should show financially on my records in order to support them? On the form it gives me a few options regarding this topic, these are £22,400 or £24,800, which option is the minimum requirement. Both children are in Egypt with my wife.

Also which forms do i need to fill in, in order to bring my wife and child without citizenship into the UK.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hello,
My two kids were born abroad and recently I brought them in the country. The visa that was given to them will expire by the end of the year. I have permanent resident card via EEC as my mom is French.
What category of visa can I apply for my children to renew their visa please?

Thank you in advance

Kofi
