Combination of dependent visa and tier 2 for ILR?

Post by wonderful_life » Mon Aug 27, 2012 12:06 am

Hello,

I am currently on tier 2 (general) visa and have already spent two years. I am also married to a British Citizen. I am wondering if I change my current status from tier 2 (general) to a dependent visa will the years spent in tier 2 count towards the 5 years residency requirement for ILR or do I have to spend 5 years on the dependent visa before I can apply for ILR?

Thank you

The 5 years will start from when your leave as a spouse is granted. Time on tier 2 won't count.
