Has your claim actually been rejected? If so, appeal! That might apply their mind.

You mention your MP. What is he/she doing about this?

No my claim has not even been processed as husband has no nino. They insist he needs an appt to get a nino even though he won't be entitled to one. But that's what I want to know whn he is refused a nino will my claim ever get processed? With a temporary reference number?

Just recently contacted my MP they contacted HO to get my husbands status they had to do this before could go any further now in contact with tax credit officebut need to wait as to what they say not sure how long this takes.

Still very unhappy by the lack of staff training at the Tax Credits Office. Suggest you write to them pointing out the regulations I have mentioned, and saying if they will still not process the claim, invite them to formally reject the claim, but point out you will then appeal to the Tribunal.

But your MP is probably a better route. Those regulations, has your MP picked up on those? If not suggest you write to him/her on that point.

I phone tax credits regularly for updates no matter what operator takes your call they are in the contact centre and WILL NOT transfer you to any other department. I have looked at their giudelines and quoted these on several occasions but they do not seem to listen. My claim was passed to a specialist team but I am not allowed to talk to anyone on this department?

I have claimed working/child tax credits before and was entitles to these just as I am married I had to put in a joint claim. I have lived in uk since birth and am a british citizen.

I am also appauled at the way the situation is handled.

I receive different info everytime I call and get no further forward. I have contacted my local MP also for advice.

Hello did you get your claim resolved? We are in a similar situation, claim ongoing since 3 months, waiting for interview for my partner NI, still nothing I called they want more info.. No letter received, called again today to be told now passed to specialist team and another 4 weeks...

Please help, I'm British and my daughter, partner is subject to immigration control..

Hi I have just received payment backdated for over 6 months. My partner did not need a NI afterall the documents we sent were appropriate for him to be issued a temporary NI. I'm not sure of your situation but my partner has to sign with immigration every week as he has an irregular status in uk. So he isn't able to get a NI number but that's all they told me he needed one! I sent letters of complaint again and again to investigate why it takes so long. I am sure this is why my claim was eventually sorted. When you call tax credits they can't help as its only a contact centre and can't transfer you x

That's great news that they finally paid. My partner has no status but we have put in application to UKBA, so he can't claim anything at present. Ive told them everything.
I'm going to post complaint letter tomorrow.
So did ur case get passed to specialist team aswel?

No we are not married but living together and engaged.
Great do looks like we got a few months of waiting still.
I will definitely keep pestering them as I cant claim anything else because I'm on maternity leave.

Did ur partner have to attend the NI interview, they seemed to have forgot about that and wanted additional information and now passed to specialist team. Just wondering if he will still need the interview

The additionl info they wanted was it a form they sent requesting passports/birth certificates that was for special team? i am married my husbands papers were submitted around 4 months ago for a visa still waiting but apparently can take years which is ridiculous!we got married then were contacted by immigration within 2 weeks and had to attend a marriage interview which took over three hours. Interviewed us seperately then together to see if we were a genuine couple! After that my husband was required to sign every week and still has and that's been 8 months and still goes every week! Does ur partner have to sign every week?

No we were told would need a NI number and dwp would contact us for an interview but it never came to that as my husband is not entitled to a NI without a visa and does not have entitlement to work. They give a temporary'N I to process the claim

We don't know what additional information they want because we never got the form!?.. They said it was posted but we never received it. Then passed to the other team and now we they said they don't need additional info?! It will prob be requested by this team. But all our documents are with ukba.
My partner doesn't need to sign, we have only just received acknowledge letter.

Do you have any children together?

Thank you for your advice
