Neither the booklet AN, nor the guide AN, nor the form AN specifies the order for question 2.2. Even if there would be such a note somewhere, Home Office will hardly fail you for listing the absences other way round. As long as they are clearly chronologically sorted, there is no need to redo the form.

Similarly, if you made a serious effort and provided two references which seem to be reasonable, the HO will not trash your application because they are not entirely happy with one of them. They will simply send you a letter requesting a third refrence. Again, nothing to lose any sleep over. |

Hi, can you pls help me on following queries in AN form that I am going to submit this week.
Section 1.1 - I am not sure on 'Border Agency Reference Number', can I leave this blank?
Section 1.22 - I have mentioned LifeInUK test number, do I also need to 'tick' 'I met the knowledge of language and life reqirement to qualifyfor settlement'?
Thanks, |

Yes. You can either use the reference number you got during your ILR application (defining the citizenship as the next step of an ongoing process) or just leave the field blank (defining the citizenship as an independent process in its own right). As far as I know, both will work just fine (personally, I left mine blank at the time).

Depends on your previous application/immigration history. If you applied for ILR and submitted sufficient evidence at the time (like a Life in the UK test certificate) you use the first option (met requirement for settlement). Otherwise, you just use the third option (fill in the numbers from your test id). |

|
|
Another basic question - I want to confirm about the names.
1.5 asks for Surnames and 1.6 for 'other names'. I have a typical 'Spanish' type of name with 2 given names and 2 surnames.
I do want my whole name in the certificate as Given name 1 - Given name 2 - Surname 1 - Surname 2
I am writing my 2 given names in 1.6 and my 2 surnames in 1.5
Is this correct?
Many thanks |

|
|
Hi,
My query is around question 2.1
I first entered UK on a student visa on 31/08/2003 but later converted it to HSMP (whilst in UK) stamp date 24/01/2007. ILR was then issued on 29/12/2011. Now the guidance notes clearly state for question 2.1 "Enter the day you first arrived with a view to staying in the UK on a long-term basis, and
the airport or seaport through which you then entered"
This implies that i should use the date when I got my HSMP and not the student visa as back then I was a student which does not necessarily mean I arrived in UK with a view of staying on a long term basis or does it?
Secondly if I use the HSMP date I am not sure what should go in place of entry as i was already UK?
Lastly, can I apply for naturalisation on 30/12/2012 (which is when I would have been on ILR for 12 months) but not the full 6 years it would be 4years 11 months on HSMP/Tier1 General plus additonal 12 months on ILR?
I would really appreciate your comments. Many thanks in advance! |

It does not depend on your intentions when you first entered the UK. When I set foot on British soil for the very first time, I intended to stay only for a few months. That was many years ago. Still - despite my plans/assumptions/thoughts at the time, that was the very date I started my life here. For the purpose of that question you give the date when you started to live consistently in the UK (which only excludes prior short-term visits like holidays). It doesn't matter (nor is it in any way verifiable) at which point in time you decided to stay permanently. Assuming you haven't left the country between 2003 and 2007 for prolonged periods, the date you are looking for is the 31/08/2003. |

Many thanks Gyfrinachgar.
Could someone also comment on when can I apply for naturalisation i.e. 4 years 11 months on HSMP/Tier General plus 12 months on ILR = 5years 11months or is there a requirement of 6 years somewhere in the law? |

Hi,
In the form AN, page 4, section 1.17, where one need to specify addresses of last 5 years. I have gap of 15-20 days between 2 of my latest address. I moved from last address to new address after about 2 weeks and I stayed at my friends place.
I am married but due to my marital issues we are separated (not legally) and dont live at same address. Until ILR my partner used to live with me at same address, at the moment shes in india. Would I be ok giving her indian address where she live. Will it delay or create any issues in my naturalisation app?
Please suggest for the above 2 queries. |

|
|
Hi,
I have been away from UK for about 385 days consecutively (as I went to look after my parents who were unwell).I have few queries with regards to my naturalisation application (planning to submit tomorrow IA through NCS):
1. In section 1.17 of form AN where you mention about pervious addresses of last 5 years, do I need to mention my Pakistani address?
2. In section 2.2 and in the column of reason of visit for the same time period, should I write visiting relatives?
3. My wife covers her head for religious reasons. Is picture with head scarf acceptable?
Many thanks |

|
|
Hi all
I am just about to file the BC application and I am confused by the guidelines on what documents I need.
I am EEA citizen and I already have the permanent residence certificate - holding it for more than a year now.
In such case what documents do I need to submit with the AN form, just my passport, the LitUK test certificate and the permanent residence card or do I also need something to show 5 years worth of residency and payslips etc?
Or documents covering just the last year (since obtaining PR?)
I have full history of bank statements for last 6 years but if not required I would rather not send 150 pages...
Also I don't think I have any Border Agency number but is that not something I can get from the permanent residence card...?
Also I took LitUK test with my national ID card but I lost it since so I need to send my passport - would that be a problem as it says I should send the same id I used for the test.
Thanks. |

Hi, I am due to apply for BC on 5 years residency qualifying period. Just few questions I have if you could please clarify.
1. I was given £60 Fixed Penalty and have 3 points on driving licence due to driving vehicle with FLAT tyre? Do I need to give this information in Criminal convictions section or it is not considered as Criminal Conviction.
2. We recently had our first child , as I hold ILR and a Pakistani PP I have three sub questions regards to my daughter's immigration status.
2.1 In current circumstances where i have ILR and Pakistani PP. Does my daughter hold a British Citizenship?
2.2 If I am going to apply for my daughter's PP before I am awarded BC, would that be a Pakistani Passport (PP)?
2.3 Once I have received BC status, would my daughter automatically be given BC status as well.
Thank you for you advice. |

hi,
Friend of mine want to apply for citizenship. He does not have criminal conviction. Back in 2009, police arrested him on fraud charges, they investigated case for 3 months and then dropped charges as there was no enough evidence .
With reference to home office AN form section 3.16 which states
"Have you ever engaged in any other activities which might indicate that you may not be considered a person of
good character? "
What should he fill here , Yes or No.
Please advise.

Hi,
I have searched the site and can't find an answer to my question... I am the Family Member of an EEA national and would like to know how to fill in sections 2.4 & 2.5. Am i required to enter the information of my EEA partner, or is this information about myself?
The AN application form is quite confusing when it comes to this section. It says "you" but I have a feeling it should be the information of my EEA partner.
I would of course be including my EEA partner's PR Document with the application which would confirm the six year requirement and prove treaty rights in the UK.

I have got my approval through today so happy. Would just like to give some advice to those applying.
The application is so straight forward. Just have the form and guidance, i did it myself. Also, i sent in more info than they needed - My entire immigration history since 1995 (passport etc) - even after being out the country for 8 years. My thinking was rather give them more than they need, even if they might not need it...I even took a copy of my credit report to send off...
Lastly, a big thank you to all on this site. It gave me piece of mind reading others comments. Good luck to those still waiting and hang in their |

Are you talking about Naturalisation application? If yes, being employed is not a requirement for Naturalisation. _________________ Life's too short .. Take it easy ! |
