Do we consider only "TAXABLE INCOME" as earnings??

Post by rising_sun » Thu Apr 19, 2007 11:09 am

Hello everyone!

I have raised a thread
http://www.immigrationboards.com/viewtopic.php?t=15078
and now I have request my company to write me earning statement.
They faxed me the copy so I can check.

There is an imbursable expense paid by the employer for my relocation expense and I didn't claim this amount as my earnings.
However total sum that was paid into my account is shown as gross value on the statement.

On my payslips, there's detail of income, gross pay, net pay and also
taxable income for the month.

I thought allowance is a part of earning, but reimburable expense is not.
and we were supposed to claim for "taxable income" as our earnings.

Please anyone correct me if I am wrong.
If so, I have to request my company to specify the content of income...

Thanks!!

Hi,
According to guidance notes, Anything that is declared on your wage slips is considered as income. There might be several countries who dont have Tax system and it does not mean that are not eligible to show their income. As my little knowledge, if any allowance is paid to you, your employer is obliged to declare to relevant tax authorities whether it is taxble or not.

i hope this will give you some idea anyways, check with senior guys in this forum.

U could use all amount declared on your pay slip for earning criteria.
In the UK for instance some permanent staff get Profit share scheme, orifit related paid. Becuase it is delcerd on the pay slip (thus taxable) is will count as income for earning criteria.

Thank you, suresh-hsmp and pantaiema!

I just contacted HSMP Team and confirmed with them.
Let me share the information so others can be saved as well!

As you two said, as long as it's shown on payslips, all the
expense etc will be considered as earning.

Hope this helps someone else too :)
