Rosey, have you been able to get in touch with the home office or immigration officials at Heathrow to clarify which leave to remain is now in force (visitor or work permit LR) and whether the visitor one needs to be cancelled?

And as usual, get everything in writing.

I have submitted the petition through my company legal advisor. In his discretion, it seems like its a mistake or lack of knowledge of I/O in performing her duties. My company legal advisor said, its not going to be an big issue & he would sort it out asap. I woud let you know guys & gals as soon as I hear the good news. Thx.

IMMIGRATION OFFICER put incorrect stamp in my PASSPORT

Post by Rosey » Wed Apr 30, 2008 4:33 am

Hi All,

First of all thx 4 everyone especially vinny, Docterror, immigration1, paulp, Siggi, tinux, avjones, INSIDER who had answered my questions & provided intellectual guidances as 2 solve my problem. Finally, I gotta ILR. My company legal advisor managed me 2 get everything sorted out. Actually, what he did is just provided the supporting docs to BIA as that I was working in UK 4 last 5 yrs. "Actually, they didn't mind about my wrong stamp in the passport" my legal advisor told me.

Again thx 4 everyone 4 yr kindness & I appreciate from bottom of my heart everybody whom somewhat belong 2 this forum.

Thx & Kind Regards

Rosey

Same issue pls help

Post by vijaymorenau » Sun May 09, 2010 6:20 pm

Hi all,
I came across this post and eventhough I know its pretty old , i am in a similar situation so thought I can ask for some help. I have a tier 1 work visa which i got an year back. I was travelling to ireland through heathrow aiport and eventhough i had a tier 1 visa the immigration officer stamped me a temporary entry for transit valid for 24 hours and let me board the plane.
I am not eligible for transit visa and hence the immigration officer has wrongly stamped the temp visa making the old visa invalid.
I am not sure if the old visa is now invalidated? Can you pls give me some info on this as to waht happened in your case. Did they issue a new work permit or the old one was still ok after the new stamp? Pls help as I am clueless and I am outside the uk is adding to more confusion.Should i get a letter in writing form immigration officer saying its still valid? Thx in advance

You've already had adequate answers and assurance about this.

This is nothing more than attention-seeking.

How do you mean you were travelling to Irleand through Heathrow?

Do you mean that you started your journey from outside UK and were transiting through heathrow on this particular day?

Re: Urgent help needed visa wrongly stamped

Post by Rosey » Wed May 26, 2010 3:29 am

Hi vijaymorenau,

The wrong stamp was crossed off and was signed. They didn't do anything to the old visa or invalidated the old visa. I was not asked any of the single questions regarding this wrong stamp when applying for the permanent residence.

Good Luck..

Best Regards,
Rosey

Rosey, thanks for the clarification. Since you were already in UK but in the wrong status it was the right thing.
Mr lookforward yes I was going from India to ireland via heathrow. I have to pass immigration for this (as though I am entering UK) becuase it is like schengen area wherein if u enter in one place u can freely travel to the other.

I emailed the Home office and got a reply that I can still use the old visa as its still valid. The problem is I dont know what the immigration officer has written in the landing card.He did ask me a lot of questions -like how long u are outside the uk etc..so I am worried.

Hi all,

So it seems that this has happened to someone else before, however, each time I contact someone they tell me something different and as you can understand, I am completely stressed out as this is my life and working ability!

I have a Tier 5 Youth Mobility Visa and entered the UK on 5 March 2010, Visa expires 4 March 2012.
I went to France for a day trip, I came back through at the Calais Folkestone Port of Coquelle, the IO stamped my passport with a 6 month tourist visa and I didn't really understand or question this until I thought about it and I was back in England.

Calling the UKBA I've been told that the stamp supersedes my other visa and that I cannot work. I have submitted a complaint hoping that this will be resolved as I cannot go back to the port, as it was in France! I've also been told that because I've submitted a complaint against the newest stamp it voids it until the complaint is resolved, so my current and actual visa, YMS tier 5 is valid again.

One side have told me I need a letter, another have said I need to submit a complaint. Why did they do this to me!

Can anyone give me some straight forward, no nonsense advice on how to resolve this. I don't have a fancy pants lawyer to call on, it is just me.
