Change in surname

Wonder if you can help on this.

Have came to UK 8 years back on my passport my surname was mis spelled instead if 'u' typed as 'a'. On all my certificate my surname was just an initial. So never had a problem, didn't bother about it in the past.

I will be father in next couple of months, I am afraid my baby will have wrong surname. Could you please suggest what all required documents required in order to change my surname on my passport and on BRP card?

Have birth certificate from India govt with correct surname, is this sufficent to apply for name change in passport?
