PEO ILR suspended due to English Language test

Post by MarkR47 » Fri Sep 12, 2014 12:29 pm

I took my FIlipino wife and 2 kids to Solhull PEO back in July and paid the princely sum of £4500 to apply for her 2 year ILR only to be told by the officer that they couldnt process it because she did her English test with EMD who are under investigation!

2 months later they sent a letter saying they were still investigating but we could speed things up by re-doing the English test with another supplier. Well splendid, I suggested that to them 2 months before but was told no!

Anyway what they seem to forget is that THEY have my wife and kids passports (and loads of other important docs) and I have not found an ILR approved English Language test centre that accepts anything other than Passport or a FULL UK Driving licence as ID. My wife only has provisional license which for some reason is not acceptable (though why I do not know). So we're still in limbo as I'd love to get another ENglish test done but because the UKBA have her passport I can't book one!!

Anyone have any advice as to what else we can do, or know of an aural only English test, like Trinity College (cos the wife hates writing) that accepts a Provisional license?

Cheers,

Mark and Ann Russell

I am not sure where you live, but when my wife sat her Life in UK exam and ESOL exam for ILR Visa the centre accepted bank statements and provisional as proof, we actually provided passport and bank statement but I know for a fact on the list of accepted documents that was acceptable.

They wanted proof of address and photo ID so provisional and bank statement was fine. I am guessing you have had a new bank statement since posting all your documents to the home office.

This was a centre in West London (Hounslow) called "Computer Learning Centre". The guys are really helpful so maybe give them a call. 020 8570 5090
