Desperate help needed please

Post by kukiboi » Fri Oct 17, 2014 5:08 am

Hi members and moderators,
I need urgent help please. I have a peo appointment for this morning. The house my husband and I live in was rented for by my sister and the agreement is in her name but she doesn't live with us. Can we still use the agreement as prove of accomodation?

We can't request a letter from the agents since they know my sister and not us.

Your help is much appreciated.

It's a bit late to ask now if your appointment is this morning.

You would need a letter from your sister I would imagine as a tenancy agreement in her name doesn't mean much for you as a couple.

What else are you using to show cohabitation documents in your name??

Thank CR001,

I didn't realise we need to prove accomodation.

We have letters addressed to each one of us separately which we are using.

Most utility bills are in my name and council tax in my husbands name.

We are sending quiet a number of letters.

Do we really need to prove accomodation as it not mentioned in the application form.

Thanks again

It should be ok with what you have, but there is no guarantee. If you cannot get a letter from your sister before you go,otherwise use what you have without the tenancy as it doesn't feature your names.

Otherwise, use the tenancy and explain in the relevant page to the back of the application.

You don't say what visa you are applying from for ILR, but if your spouse is applying with you (or if you are the dependent spouse), you would normally have to provide cohabitation documents covering roughly 2 years either in joint names or individual names all with the same address.
