Reapplying, do we need to pay another IHS surcharge?

Post by nbe » Mon Jun 22, 2015 2:18 am

We are going to re-apply now that NatWest have done a U-turn and decided they can certify my business bank statements (see other thread).

But we have a question. Do we need to pay another NHS Surcharge to get a new IHS number? Or can we use the same IHS number? It said on refusal the IHS would get refunded but we don't know if that is automatic or you have to request it or whether they wait a month or two before refunding it?

The NHS surcharge , as when the Home Office implements any new regulation, even their own Immigration staff appear to be ignorant of the Rules. Calling the 'help line' won't guarantee correct advice. Unless any of the members have direct experience or can confirm the procedure in a re-application, if you have the funds I would pay the surcharge again and press for a refund on the first. The last thing you need at this stage is to use the original IHS number and find they refund the fee while your application is being processed and you're left with a void number. :?

Thanks Casa. That's what we suspected but it's good to hear it from you :)

Will just pay it again and use the new reference number. Contest the refund later.

They will return the money to the same card from which payment was made.
