Thanks for quick responseWanderer wrote:That's the validity of the card, most likely due to the age of the picture. It's the same with your driving licence.
The clue is in the name INDEFINATE leave to remain - it never expires, subject to the two year rule etc.....

We don't know, we don't work for HO or the BRP printing company. Seems most ILR BRPs are only being issued till 2024.ram14esh wrote:it is same with me the BRP card arrived recently and it shows valid till Dec 2024 as I have applied in march so the ILR is only for 8yr 8months? Why are they not giving it for 10yrs?moderators / seniors any advise pls?
You renew the BRP, in the same way you renew your drivers license, passport or bank cards. Appearances change that is why the BRP CARD needs to be updated.ram14esh wrote:say if we are not planning to go for passport and not applying for citizenship in that case what happens after dec2024?should we re-apply based on the rules in place during 2024 for ILR again to get it renewed or will it automatically renewed for another 10yrs as ILR assumption is no expiry date?
Have you read the renewal application form? It says,CR001 wrote:You renew the BRP, in the same way you renew your drivers license, passport or bank cards. Appearances change that is why the BRP CARD needs to be updated.
ILR does not 'expire' or you don't 'lose' it unless you leave the UK for 2 years or more.
and then goes on to list all sorts of things other than passports. That's going to be rather a lot if you were granted ILR 60 years ago.If you were granted Indefinite Leave to Remain more than 2 years ago please provide
evidence of continuous residency in the United Kingdom, such as:
You will still face the document preparation. That will be there even if the request is toned down so that one only has to produce evidence of continued residence beyond that in the passport or implied by the grant of the previous BRP. It's not for nothing that advancing to citizenship is recommended.ram14esh wrote:Great so once ILR done then it is done forever. Thats a big relief. Hopefully at-least no more hefty visa fees, no more document preparation and sleepless nights before PEO appointments checking the documents n-times.
It is not an 'exchange'. You have to apply for a new card and pay a fee, enroll biometrics etc. Are you planning on applying for citizenship at any point?Mary937 wrote:Can we exchange ILR cards in 2017 after implementation of new technology? Why should we wait till 2024 please?
