I am UK Citizen. Can I bring my single retired Mum here?

Post by snandury » Thu Feb 07, 2008 5:06 pm

Hello,

I have just registered myself as a member on this board as I was looking for guidence on bringing my mother to the UK on a dependent visa.

I am married and live in the UK with my wife and we can comfortably look after her with no recourse to public funds. I can prove this via our bank statements.

I read the rules on the homeoffice website, and they state that single parents should be above 65 years of age in order to qualify for a dependent visa. My mother is 58 and will retire from her employment. I am going to have to support here financially henceforth as her pension will not be enough for subsistence.

I have a sister who is married and lives in India but that is 24 hours journey from where my mum lives. I can provide proof of me supporting her through her Bank statements.

Can the senior members guide me through what I can / need to do to prepare myself and my mother for the application we hope to make in April this year.

Pls advise.

regds,
SNM.

Unlikely to succeed as she doesn't meet the age criteria and by resigning she'd be making herself dependant.

Think u need to have ILR too...

two things.

1. She is not resigning. she will retire in April. She can't work in the job even if she wants to.
2. I am a UK citizen.

In 7 years time, when mother is 65, a good chance of succeeding (if the rules are still the same), but now, little chance of success.
