Tier 2 Job Start date

Hi guys,

I am new to this forum and hoping someone can help me out.
So I am currently on a Tier 4 Student Visa which expires or January 31, 2019. I recently got a job offer for a graduate role that has a start date in September 2019. Is it possible to switch to a Tier 2 Visa from within the UK before my Tier 4 expires even though my start date is all the way in September 2019? I haven't found anything online yet and the information of the UKVI website is confusing.

If someone could help clear the confusion that would be much appreciated!

No you can't apply in January for a visa to start in September 2019. A CoS must be used within 3 months of being assigned. Any application you make in the UK will have a start date from the date it is approved.
