Verification Process ....Pls advise

Post by bsa099 » Sat May 31, 2008 8:22 am

Hello friends,

Fours months ago, i applied my hsmp from Singapore, till now no decision has taken and its under consideration with caseworker.
Understood, if the decision hasn't taken with in 14 week its in verification process and also understood from previous posts, ppl are waiting months together in this phase...

I want know how the verification process take place? Whether they'll send back document to local british council for verification?

Let say. if i took a uk job through work permit, later if a got approval, whether this application will be valid?
if valid, for EC stamping i need to come back to singapore? any alternative way for this.. Pls advise

Verification is done by the local BHC (or a 3rd party agency employed by BHC for this purpose) and the outcome is passed back to the BIA office considering your HSMP application.

If you travel to UK on a WP and receive HSMP approval at a later date, I believe you will have to return to Singapore to apply for EC. But I would suggest that you double check with BIA on this.

Grant of new visa supersedes validity of existing visa.

WP holders are allowed to switch to HSMP, in country. So I dont think you will have to go back to Singapore to get the EC.

I do understand that one could apply for (and switch) to HSMP from within UK if one was resident here on WP (in the HSMP days) and the same is currently true for Tier 1.

But not sure if it holds good in this case as the HSMP approval was applied for from Singapore. My apologies if this is indeed possible.

And do let me know if I am wrong ... so that I don't end up giving the wrong advice again.

While providing advice here, I am assuming that we are talking about HSMP.

We all know that HSMP is a two stage process, the I one being the original approval and the II stage being EC/Leave to Remain. The II stage is independent of the I stage in that the HSMP approval letter itself says " If you are in UK and eligible to switch to HSMP then apply for LTR or if You are outside UK/not eligible to switch to HSMP, apply for an EC".

So one could have any VISA status while applying for the original HSMp approval. Once approved, it needs to be seen whether or not he/she is eligible (in this case Yes as the applicant has a WP) for an in country application (LTR).

Vaild point.

I would still suggest OP to confirm with HO .. just to be doubly sure.

Definitely. It makes sense as stakes are very high.
