FM form sent instead of PR form

Hi , i am an EEA married to a north african woman in Morrocco. We got married there about 7 years . However she did get her 6 months EEA family permit then she is got 5 years , which is about to expire this month . Last month i applied for a residency which i tought was the right one but some people around told me that i should have applied for permanent residency. Advise please
