Settlement Visa - Damaged Passport

Post by ssgk2019 » Fri Sep 25, 2020 11:22 am

Hello All,

We received a settlement visa for our 5 year old few days ago, he is currently in India. Unfortunately his passport was bitten by our dog and it has one corner damaged with very little or negligible damage to the visa. We have got him a new passport under tatkal scheme. Do you think we need a new visa vignette or could he travel with his visa on the old slightly damaged passport and his new passport?

Thanks again for your help in advance!

You said little or negligible damage then should be no concern.

It is damage like ripping, water damage, markings and alterations that will be considered problematic. Also you stated obtaining a new passport so with this and if the vignette on the old one is in good order you should be able to travel with it.

The only imminent mountain to climb will be the airline who might not let you board the flight. However, if you will manage to board the flight then shouldn't be an issue at UK airport/border. Also buy a good muzzle for your dog today.
The opinion expressed as above is neither a professional advice nor contesting/competing to other member's opinion/advice.

If you get to Heathrow, you will probably talk your way in.

But the airline, is another story. They may or may not let you board.
