Dear all, first of all leme explain my case, i did my 3-years BCS from FAST-ICS karachi,Pakistan in affiliation with Karachi Univeristy (HEC recognized) during our last year FAST-ICS got its own chartered and became National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences(NUCES) (also HEC recognized) than NUCES offered as 4th year extension program in order to complete our credit hours for 4-years BCS but under same Karachi University Degree. We only got 4th year's 7th & 8th semester listed in the final transcript and 4th year as the passing year in the BCS degree certificate.
To make things strong because of above confusion i asked NARIC assessment before applying for HSMP, NARIC assessed my 4-year BCS degree as
CERTIFICATE of HIGHER EDUCATION EQUIVALENT
and i thnk i'm not gona get 15 points on this, so i'v decided to ask NARIC again by explaining my case to them as well (initially i did not mentioned nething to NARIC), so what you guys say what are the chances that my degree can be equivalent to Bachelors of UK, plz advise
Take care
faraz

Hi Faraz
This happens at times with Pakistani institutes. A couple of months ago electrical engineering degree of UET lahore was equated to a diploma by Naric where as at the same time electrical engineering degrees were acceptalbe from NED karachi. Now Naric have reconsidered (i really don't know how) UET lahore degree and they have started to equate UET lahore degree equvalent to UK bachelors. In your case I would suggest
1) Find out if HSMP is approved from any applicant from FAST where they were awarded degree points by HSMP. You can use that as a reference.
2) Request FAST to correspond to Naric and try to resolve this issue as this would impact all the students from FAST. It would make a much stronger case if the institute follows it up with Naric as opposed to an individual student.
I can understand your frustration as I had to wait as well, but in my case the situation resolved automatically (degree from UET Lahore).
Hope it helps

Hi Faraz
Actually one of my seniors and colleague applied for HSMP and was not awarded degree points as according to HSMP team the UET Lahore degree was equated to a UK diploma. It was strange to me as a couple of my friends actually received UET Lahore degree points earlier. That was some thing that deterred me from applying earlier. Then my friend who was refused HSMP received an email from the HSMP team which stated that there was some confusion regarding the degree evaluation and now Naric has confirmed that UET Lahore degree is indeed equivalent to UK bachelors. Unfortunately my friend has deleted the original email from the HSMP team. I applied recently and was approved without a hitch.
In your case, as I said before try to check if any of your seniors have receive HSMP before, because if they had, it would certainly help your case a lot.
If you do intend to give a shot with Naric, do send them a strong supporting letter from FAST and also ask FAST administration to take it up with Naric.
Best of luck

Dear All!
Thank GOD! after long struggle atlast my Bachelors degree got equivalent to UK's Bachelor. It happend on requesting reassessment from NARIC. I explained my case in detail to them even by attaching my Matriculation and intermdiate certificates. Well now i'm gonna resume my HSMP applicaiton.
Assessment: Is considered comparable to British Bachelor (Ordinary) degree standard
Thanks to all who supported me here..
Take care

Dear Jazbaati99
I was looking for some info about UET electrical eng degree and found ur mail on it. It seems to have solved a big problem for me.
But can u kindly advise me that for having some evidence about equavalence of UET degree with graduation of UK, do I need to personally apply to NARIC for an equivalenc certificate or is there any other mechanism that I can have some documentary evidence about it before applying to hsmp team with confidence.
Would apprciate ur quick response.

Hi Quite Eager
I am also an electrical engineer from UET lahore. I did not apply for a Naric assesment and have successfully obtained an HSMP. I would advise you to go ahead and apply directly for HSMP.
Best of luck

Thanks Rao and Jazbaati for your advice.
I infer from your cases that hsmp team is well aware of equivalence level of UET Lahore's degree with graduation standards in the UK.
One more thing I would like to ask:
When u get hsmp approval letter, do they inform you about the points u scored in different sections of the application?
would appreciate a quick response.

My NO refers to second question regarding HSMP points. It just tells that u application is approved as u met the qualifying criteria of 65 downs. It doesnot give u the breakdown of points u scored

Dear All,
I have FAST 3 years degree (not 4 years). Going through the board I get that only 4 years degree is considered equavalent to UK bachelors level.
Is 3 years degree acceptable. I enrolled my self in Masters program of FAST also and syudies for 2 years. Should I send that transcript to NARIC along with bachelors degree and transscript, as they might count towards 16 years of education?
