Extension - Tier 1 (General)

Post by hsmpchacha » Sun Jan 24, 2010 1:32 pm

I want to extend my leave to remain under Tier 1 (General). However, i am falling short of 5 points..

What I have noticed that there are two ways to gain.
1. Raise Earnings
2. Get Masters Degree or Professional Level Qualification .

Can someone pls suggest me some one year "Masters Degree or Professional Level Qualification ". to gain 5 points, Too tough though but manageable as compare to raising earnings :P

or another option is to renew early to claim age points? Is it possible? How early can i apply??

TIA

I would advise to raise earning somehow. It also depends on the shortfall amount. If shortfall amount is acheivable then you should try getting it. There are many colleges which promises student quick and easy way to do Masters Degree in order to meet their Visa requirements. You should stay away from these setups.

Applying early is another option to get 5 points for Age. How early you are planning to apply?

There are many people in this forum who applied early and received their extension. I don't see any limit of how early you can apply.

While applications 3-4 months early are generally processed by UKBA without a problem (information posted by members in this forum), UKBA as such has not published any time limit as to how early an application for FLR can be made.

No one other than those who have applied 6 months early (or even earlier) and were granted further leave would be able to comment on whether you can apply that early or not. If anyone else says it then it will, in all likelihood, be either hearsay or a guess.

See Extension Approval - Can we post here please!! where people have posted their timelines of extension approval. You'll get a general idea.

Or use search to find posts on the subject.
