Please
don't make multiple posts on the
same topic.
No.
I strongly suggest that you read the
Tier 1 (General) policy guidance *carefully*.

1. Can i ask that why the OP can not do that.
2. As per the guidence as long as u name is listed on the account u can show that as maintenance proof and it explains that in the guidence as well that u can use a joint account as long as u name is on the account.

1. Yes u can do that as per the guidence from UKBA.
"If the applicant wishes to rely on a joint account as evidence of available funds, he/she must be named on the account along with one or more other named individual."

My suggestion would be that the OP gets a written confirmation of the same from UKBA / VAC before taking this route.
There have been instances where joint accounts with even family members (e.g.- father, mother etc.) have not been accepted.
It's like fixed deposits ... though they are cash funds, many applicants have been rejected in the past for using FDs for maintenance funds. (
a recent case)
IMHO ...

1. The post u referred to is totally different to the OP question as the whole topic is dealing with a different situation.
2. He asked if he can open a joint account with his friend so how do u know if its a current account or FDA?
3. I wud say that if he opens a joint account (although depends which account he opens) and use it for his funds requirements tehn he will be fine.

You missed the point altogether!
Reading all these posts should help.
Anyhow, my suggestion remains the same as before - that if the OP wishes to do such a thing (show joint account with a friend as evidence of maintenance funds) he should first confirm from UKBA / VAC if such evidence is acceptable.

Hi ashishs123,
Are you successful in getting Tier 1 Visa using Joint Account Bank Statements for maintenance funds ?
I am in a similar situation, planning to apply Tier 1 dependant visa for my spouse and kid whereas showing Bank Statements for maintenance funds from a joint account (My Spouse and my father), and the same statements for my kid as well.
Is there any success stories using Joint Account bank statements for Maintenance funds.
Please advice.
Thanks,
Pradeesh

If you were not a joint account holder for more than(or atleast) three months, how are you planning to provide bank statements of the months? Bank statements, when you were not joint account holder, will contain details of your friend "only" and not yours. Hence your application will be turned down. Bank will also not provide you letter for maintenance funds as "you" were not holding the amount in "your" account but your friend did. To get bank statement with your + your friend's name on it, you will anyway have to wait for three months.
So I would say keep it straight forward and don't throw away application fees in haste.

Thanks for the update Chetanoja
Joint account (my spouse & my father) is already available since Sep 2009, and so we are thinking of using this account to show maintenance funds for my spouse and my kid as well. Otherwise we would need to create a new personal account and wait for 3 months.
Also can I use the same Joint account for my Kid as well, she is only 1.4 years old now.
I am already in UK since Jan just started a new job now, so Id lack of any payslips or other proofs as well.
What do you suggest, should we wait for another 3 months ?
Your suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Pradeesh
