Naturalisation & benefits

Post by UK_yankees » Mon Dec 26, 2005 2:29 pm

In August 2005 I applied for Job Seeker allowance for only one month and then I stopped as after august, in september 2005 I got another job.

Now if I apply for my citizenship end of december 2005, this means it will effect my naturlisation application.

I have checked the IND website, they have not mentioned anything about recourse to public fund is a breach of naturalisation application. I am thinking...

Application for ILR is strict as person should not be claiming any benefits from the UK government.

Anyone to clarify

I don't think you have a problem at all. If you are applying for naturalisation this month it is presumably the case that you got your ILR in December 2004 or earlier. Accordingly in August/September 2005 you clearly had ILR and were thus fully entitled to claim JSA.
I have checked the IND website, they have not mentioned anything about recourse to public fund is a breach of naturalisation application.
No but there is a "good character " requirement and someone prohibited from doing something and who then does it anyway might cause the "good character" test to be failed.

However you have not done anything wrong in claiming JSA so you clearly do not have a problem.

Thanks John.

Good Character comes criminal convictions, evasion of Taxes or anything that doesn;t represent a good character. I have no worries on this as I am clean.

I have ILR since 12/12/2003. What only worrys me that claiming JSA would damage my chance of application toward Naturalisation.

One of other thing John, if I gt your reply would be great. I said in my other message board but have not received any reply.

I was working for local council from Sept 2005 till decmeber 2005. My application for BC was made on 22 of december, so I provided the address of the council. Will there be any problem if the IND finds out my contract has ended till dec 2005.

Anyone has any information when homoeffice will be back to work

UK_yankees, again I really don't think you have anything to worry about.
