Irregular Salary Payments in Cash

Post by amuk » Wed Jan 05, 2011 12:19 am

Hello all,

I paid online from outside of the UK on December 22, 2010 and will claim earnings for the period of 25 October, 2009 to 24 October, 2010.

During the period of July to December 2009, I worked as a full-time employee of a local company. Gross monthly salary was fixed but payments dates and amounts were irregular at times. I always took the cash to the bank straight way so it shows up on my statement on the right date.

My problem:
On October 28, 2009: I received a payment of 2 month's salary: salary pay for September '09 and October '09.

On February '10, I received December's salary.

I am only using 4 months from this job.

My questions:
1. Do you think it's safe to include September's (late) salary?
2. Does the late payment matter?
3. Do I need to clarify these irregularities on the employment letter?

Thanks in advance.

1. No, because it is earnings for a month (Sep '09) outside the 12-months window you are using.
2. Yes, and a letter from employer stating late payment of earnings should be included .. to make it easier for caseworker to understand the irregular payments.
3. Yes.

As always, many thanks sushdmehta!

It is for work done in September. But, the payment was made on October 28th -- one lump sum of two months' salary.

I can exclude it (no problem), but I'm afraid it'd make things more confusing because in the same transaction I was paid my October salary.
