English Test OR Degree taught in English for spouse Visa

Post by visitkans » Thu Jul 28, 2011 8:04 am

Hi all,

Am in deep confusion as to whether my wife should sit the english test or if the "Medium of instruction" certificate from her Uni is enough.

the link below states this

"Degrees taught in English

If you have an academic qualification which is deemed by UK NARIC to meet the recognised standard of a Bachelor's degree, we will accept this as evidence that you can speak and understand English to level A1 of the Common European Framework of Reference. Therefore you do not need to take a test."

http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitec ... e-partners

My wife was recently got her visa refused as she did not have the "medium of Instruction" certificate, but her Uni was on the points calculator.

This areas has been highly confusing lately and any light on this would be really helpful.

Regards
K.

Hey hi..now that your wife has gotten her medium of instruction certificate from her university, you wil have no problem of getting rejected due to that reason. Submit it and you will get the visa :)The link clearly says you just have to have a UK NARIC certificate certifying the university bachelors level and the medium of instruction certificate can be given by the university itself. best of luck.

Thanks Maria,

The ukba site has never been clear on this regard and since it said if the uni is on the points calc then its accepted, so she did not get the medium certificate. :(

My wifes master or bachelors didnt appear on the points calc, we just submitted marksheets and certificates from both qualifications. We also got letters from the institutions stating qualifications were wholly taught in English.

After I submitted the application, I got a bit nervous so did get a letter from UK naric to confirm the masters was equiv to a UK bachelors. But fortunately we didnt need that letter as we got the visa anyway:)

heyy wassap..thanx for th einfo :) ur wife got the visa without the usage of NARIC certificate cuz she was a masters degree holder :) I think the UK NARIC is only required to certify the bachelor equivalency.
