I have only been working full time in London for 6 months
3 months as a temp bc the market was so bad at 18gbp/hour and roughly 1800 gbp/month (terrible job market) after taxes
3 months at 45,000 gbp/annual or 2600 /month
(however when/if i apply for extension in two months: january 23 - i can show 2600/mo post uk taxes for 5 total months )
I very stupidly assumed as long as I had a job offer for 45K gbp then i would be absolutely fine to extend Tier 1 general when my visa expired (january 26)
However.......... it looks like even for the extension (and similar to my initial application) I really need to have made at least 45,000 GBP for the entire year previous to my application for the extension
that is, to get the extension/points, it looks closely at the earnings over the PAST year , previous to the extension
and to even qualify for an extension you would have had to make at least 40,000 gbp , more like 45000 gbp for 12 months previous to the application
it doesnt matter what the current job offer is, it matters what 12 months of earning is to get a tier 1 general extension..........
is that correct???
Thank you so much for your response
(in the absence of that, for tier 2, that point system doesnt care about your last 12 months of earning - im thinking as a plan b hope and pray that i find a sponsor........., with an american company, as i am an american lawyer (non practicing from the states)
