FLR (BID) - Bank Statements not originals, advice needed

Post by Travelbug » Tue Jan 17, 2012 1:13 pm

Hi

I'm applying for an ancestry visa extension FLR (BID).

I don't have bank statement originals as I've been receiving online statements instead. I went to the bank today (Nationwide) and ask them to issue 3 months of official statements for me. They replied they could only print off internet statements because the official statements had never been issued in the first place and therefore didn't exist.

So this leaves me with the only option of printing internet statements and having them stamped and signed by the bank branch. Has anyone done this and been successful?

This is from the UK border website -
"You should send the original documents, not copies. In exceptional circumstances, we may accept a photocopy that is certified as an accurate copy by the body or authority that issued the original, or by a notary. You must include a letter explaining why you are providing a certified copy rather than the original document."

Please can somebody reply or at least point me in the right direction, so far I've had no help with any of my queries on this forum and I'm wondering if I'm posting in the right section. My visa expires next week and I'm extremely nervous..

Thanks

Hi Travelbug

As long as the Bank is able to stamp all the pages of your printed off bank statements, you should be fine.
Feb 2012 - Spouse Visa - New Delhi
Mar 2012 - Documents collected - VISA Granted
March 2014 - ILR Granted
Apr 2015 - Applied for Naturalisation
Nov 2015 - Naturalised

Thanks harv

On the application form it says furthermore "We do not accept internet or cashpoint statements as evidence of finances".

Internet statements is all I have access to, so I pray they will be empathetic to my situation!!

Hallifax are great they will print the statement in branch, stamp it and sign it as true copy. If they cannot print the statement in branch (savings accounts) you can take your own printed copy and they will stamp and sign.

Lloyds TSB flatly refused to stamp my internet copies. However they can order a duplicate statement by post. The can make print out in branch but it does not have the LTSB logo letterhead or your address name, it is stamped and signed screenshot.

Hallifax and LTSB use the same online banking system, you have to de-activate paper statements , then order your replacement statements, otherwise they will charge you £5 a sheet. You can only activate and deactivate your staements 3 or 4 times so get all your statements done otherwise you will be paying £5 a sheet unless you go in branch.

Santander do free online reposting of statements.

I have seen plenty of lloyds TSB internet stmts stamped, so it obviously depends on the branch.
