Child Visa with parents who are British by decent.

Post by Fowfow16 » Thu May 15, 2025 12:37 pm

Hello all, looking for some clarification.

Moving to the UK next month for a job. My partner (childs mother) and I are both British citizens by decent via our fathers. We are born in Canada as is our child.

Are we applying for the Child Visa and form VAF4A Appendix 1or do we need Appendix FM?

Appendix 1 is what you need for a child.

Great, and this may be a dumb question but the Appendix covers a bunch of situations, ours is obviously "As the non-British child of a parent/parents who are British citizens" -

So questions like "Are you able to care for yourself", "How long have you needed care", "please provide details of why your current care arrangements cannon meet your needs" - Do I answer these obvious like "I am a child of 3 yrs old" etc?

The guidance that comes with the form is kind of unclear to be honest

Also is a letter of employment a viable document as Im moving to start the new job, my current job is in Canada, I doulnt have 6 months of paystubs for the UK job.
