Apply for dependants using FLR(M) and questions on the Application form

Post by Grasur » Fri Mar 01, 2019 11:13 am

Hi All,

I've recently applied for ILR on Long residency and got approved. I have a 4 and half yr old daughter who i want to register as British citizen using the MN1. My husband is applying for FLR(M). he is switching from T2 min of religion.

In the FLR(M) application form under dependant children, when we mentioned that we have a daughter and mentioned we are not applying for her as dependant, the application form has a question asking why we are not including the child in the application. What reason can i give in the application form?

our plan is to register her after my husband's visa because we are planning to go for the same day service, whereas i don't have the option of same day service for my daughter.

Please can you guide me as to what reason to enter in the application form for not including child in the application as dependant.

Thanks once again!

Is the child UK born or born abroad??

There is no longer a same day decision option. The PSC/PEO centres have closed. You need to use the new UKCVAS service.

Thanks for the reply!

My daughter was born in the UK. Based on that i'm planning to register her using the MN1 and not include her as dependant in the FLR(M).

I'm confused as to what to enter in the Application form.

Thanks once again!

Then simply state exactly that, you will be applying to register her on form MN1 under Section 1(3) of the British Nationality Act since you have obtained ILR.

As she is not yet British, for the FLR(M) application, HO will expect to see evidence of meeting the financial requirement of £22,400pa.

When does your husbands visa expire??

I would suggest to make things easier, that you apply to register your child first and then apply for FLR(M) once the child is British. Just a suggestion.

ok, do i have to send the original BRP and my passport when applying for her? and how long does it take for her to become one?

The reason i want to go ahead with my husband's application first is i can apply for same day service for him but for my daughter there is not a definite time as to when we would receive her certification.. As soon as the decision is made on my husband's i will apply for her MN1.. its just my thought!

No, not if you use the new UKCVAS service to apply. UK born children seem to be getting certificates within 4-6 weeks.
