Applying for UK Citizenship after ILR

Post by Bupa2019 » Fri Jan 10, 2020 4:16 pm

Hi,
My wife got her ILR on the 5 year route married to me as a UK Citizen in Dec 2019.She has been living in UK over 5 years now.I read on internet that ILR has no expiry date .But her ILR BRP card has expiry date of Dec 2024.I am not sure if they made a mistake or ILR are issued with expiry date now. Also , with this in mind, can she apply for UK Citizenship now?
Would appreciate if anybody can throw some light on this .

As has been answered many times in recent weeks, this is the date the CARD expires and has to be updated with new enhanced security features. Renewing the card is irrelevant if applying for citizenship.

Yes, if you are British and if she meets all the standard requirements to apply as spouse of British citizen based on 3 years residence, ie. absence limit, physically present 3 years ago on the same date she applies online etc.
