Asylum Case Pending - Allowed Work

Post by Case83 » Wed Jul 17, 2024 11:23 am

HI,

hope you are all well. I need some help regarding my case.

I have applied for Asylum last year and still waiting on a call for substantive interview call. It's been over a year now. I have applied for permission to work and got it. now my question is do I have to apply for a job from a certain website within the ISL (Immigration Salary List) which was previously knows as SOL (Short occupation list). Or I any company can give me the job with the categories mentioned in ISL. Does the company required to follow any particular procedure? Please help me out in this matter

If your work authorization says "work allowed". Then you can apply and work anywhere. There's no binding list you have to adhere to.

Asylum seekers are restricted to certain jobs.

If you are given permission to work, you will not be allowed to become self-employed and you will only be allowed to take up a job which is included on the list of shortage occupations published by UK Visas and Immigration.

Guess this now depends on when asylum application was made. But yeah I get the general gist. Cheers
If you have been given permission to work as part of another form of leave, then as long as your application for asylum was made in time (while the original leave is still valid) you will usually be allowed to continue to work.

If you apply for asylum out of time (when you have no current leave in the UK), then the permission to work you had under your previous leave ended when your leave expired so you can no longer work.
