Banned message when following links from notification email

Hello

Sometimes I browse the forum from my phone. In such case, I am not logged in just because I don't like typing from my phone.

However, often, when I receive an email that someone responded to a post I am following and I click on the link, I hit a page indicating that I am banned and each time a different reason shows.

Last time it was for "repeatedly posting private information on the forum".

It happens only on the phone and only if I am following a link. If I just open the forum on the phone, it doesn't do that.

If you are using your phone on the O2 network, we have a number of IPs banned due to spammers. I myself cannot always access through my phone on O2.

Can't comment on your reasons as the mods would have no knowledge of this.

I am using Three. The reasons are every time different.

I think there is a bunch of IPs blocked for various reasons and they are being assigned randomly to my phone.

At home, I have a fixed IP so this never happens.

Three runs off the O2 network, as does Tesco mobile and Giff Gaff.

Nothing we can do unfortunately as the minute we unban these IPs, we are flooded with serious spam.

On a technical point, Three is a separate network and does not run off O2.

Here is a list of the MVNOs operating in the UK.

In any case, if you have a dynamically assigned IP address on either a mobile or a broadband connection that has been used in the past for spamming this site, it is possible that it is blocked. You can try powering the device off for a while and then power it back on, hoping that you get a new unblocked IP address. Or if you are using a mobile, put it in Airplane mode for 10-15 minutes, then turn that mode off and try again.

No worries I used to manage a forum and the spam was really a pest.

Currently, when a bad IP is assigned to my IP, I use a VPN on my idiot-phone and it works. That VPN has a dedicated IP and I am the only user. So it works fine with this workaround.
