ESOL Entry level 3 2014 for British Citizenship

Post by ibrahim9140 » Thu Mar 28, 2024 7:39 pm

Hi,

I have ESOL Entry level 3 speaking and listening certificate from 2014 which I have used for ILR.

I am thinking to apply for British Citizenship now. My question is can I use the same certificate for my application. Although it is more than 2 years old and is it B1 level.

Thanks.

You would need to check if the test provider is still on the list. An expired test can only be used if it is an approved test AND the test provider is still on UKVI's approved provider list.

You can only use English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) qualifications if they’re on the list of approved tests. You cannot use other qualifications, for example GCSEs, A levels or National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs).

Thanks for your reply.

I am confused about below statement. Although my test provider Pearson is still in UKVI list.

Applying for citizenship

You can use a B1 level qualification that’s run out if you’re applying for citizenship and it was accepted when you settled in the UK.

It does not matter if the B1 level test you took is not on the current list of recognised tests. You do not need to take another test.
