General Discussion During Naturalisation Application Process

Hi there

I a in the process of completing an online AN application. I have some questions regarding the Nationality Checking Service (NCS) and the Nationality Document Return Service (NDRS):

1. As part of the NDRS, do they verify if the forms have been completed correctly and all required forms have been included? They will check it's been completed.

2. If not, is it possible to both the NCS (to verify that the form has been completed correctly) and the NDRS (to get my passport and BRP back on the same day)? They will return your passport and other documents.

3. If this is not possible, is it worth paying an immigration lawyer to review my application and ensure it is filled in correctly, prior to completing the application? The application is straightforward and most forum members do it themselves.

A couple of general questions as well:

4. In section 6 of the AN Guide titled Biometric Enrolment, it states the following: As part of your application, you are required to enrol your biometric details for the purpose of identity verification. You must complete the biometric enrolment section of the application form. You will then be issued with an enrolment letter, instructing you to make an appointment at a designated Post Office to have your biometric details recorded.

I have not seen any reference to this in the application form at all and I'm right at the end (payment section). How do I go about completing my Biometric Enrolment? at the end of the online process you can print a document for the biometrics enrollment which you take to the post office

5. I have lost my Life in the UK pass certificate but have a photo of it. Is it worth printing out the photo as part of the cover letter? Don't know about this one - someone else maybe?

If you have followed the guidance notes and booklet for form AN, then there should be no need. A solicitor is not required unless you have a very complex case and even then, has no bearing or influence on your application and they often get even the most basic applications horribly wrong.

At the end of the online process once you have paid and submitted, you can download your biometric letter, print it and go to the Post Office with the letter to enroll your biometrics.

Sorry, have another question. I have booked in my NDRS for 2nd November and in the confirmation email there is a statement about not travelling for 2 months from the time I make the application. I already have flights booked from mid-December to early Jan (away for a total of 3 weeks).

Given that there is a maximum of 15 days to enrol biometrics from the time the request is made, should I reschedule the NDRS session to the new year (in case I'm still overseas at the time)?

What's the typical time between the application being made and the enrolment request coming through?

Is it possible to complete biometric enrolment in Australia?

You are free to travel.

No you cannot do your biometrics in Australia.

However, as you are applying online, you will be able to print your biometric letter as already advised and enroll even before your NDRS appointment.

I used NCS not NDRS+JCAP, this is my biggest mistake, it is much slower, and even after approval, you have to file to get passport, another slow process.
Hope you choose online not paper form.

If you look at the September timeline, NCS paper applications are being decided way faster than online applications

A couple of other questions regarding the document checklist:

1. Proof of living in the UK for applicant: what constitutes as proof of this? I have my ILR card and my current passport. My old passport, which I no longer have in my possession, had my original visa and visa stamp when I first entered the UK.

2. Proof of freedom from immigration time restrictions: what constitutes as proof of this?

3. General question - can one piece of ID cover multiple requirements, e.g. my biometric residence permit also cover as my evidence of identity?

3. No. You need to send your passport And Brp. BRP is proof of immigration status for citizenship, not identity.

Whenever I check my mailbox, my heartbeat goes up and down massively. According to the timelines, 17th September NDRS-JCAP's are being decided and coming one by one. For the records, I am one of the September's, applied on 17th JCAP.
