New AN form from 28-Oct-2013

I have been informed that the Form, Guide and Booklet AN are being updated to reflect the new knowledge of language and life in the UK requirement. This will be available on the website on Monday 28th October 2013.

Thanks Amber for info, that answers my earlier question on the forum, I have appointment on the 28th October in NCS Edinburgh, my referees have signed already.

Will I need to fill the new form? I was planning to put the additional information in Page 15 about how I fulfill new English requirements.

You could do that or just swap the referee page into the new form. You should check also that the NCS will accept the old form.

Let's see how it goes. I have appointment at 11 am and live 2 hours away of Edinburgh. Not sure if we have enough time to fill new forms for me and my wife.

We were just unlucky we got our ILR on the 26/10/12 so cannot apply earlier than Monday 28th.

I was not concern on the new requirements and have everything prepared since 2-3 months ago including the appointment in NCS but I didn't count on the incompetence of the HO on not releasing an appropriate form until the date of change of new rules. At least if they release the form on Friday 25th, we will have time to fill everything again.

Good luck Pqek. Agree it is ridiculous to release the form on the day you need to start using it. I've decided to delay our application with two weeks to give me time to download new form and see what happens with new rules.

Also planning to apply at Edinburgh NCS. Do you know how quickly one can book an appointment with them e.g. With in one week of calling?

I suggest you call the NCS now, I booked around 3 months ago so I had no problem. Last year with my Kids around this time, they only gave me a slot 5 weeks after.

Edinburgh NCS is busy, if you are in a hurry tou carry Hamilton or a couple more in Glasgow.

I agree, IMO, they should have published forms atleast a week before 28th or now they should accept old forms (Sep 2013) for another week or so.

Although, UKBA can argue that there is no time limit on applying so applicant can wait until new form published..

You can use the old form for 28 days from when it was published. So, upto 27th september you can use either the old or the new form.

Ayyubi72, a link? As for nationality, you will find that actually no form is required. For immigration, old forms can be used for 21 days.

Why on earth HO released a new form on September 2013 just for 1 month wasting tax payer's money???? what are they drinking???

Due to the changes in the Good Character guidance. Moreover, it won't cost much to change the forms as the Home Office doesn't print them.

Following you advice, I wrote to the NCS and they advised there is no other form different than Sept 2013.

I understand you may have better inside information than my local NCS but apart from your post, I have not seen any other info related to releasing a new form on the 28th October.

We'll just have to wait till Monday.

Yes John353. Settlement forms are also being updated and will be released on Monday. However, for ILR you can use the old forms for 21 days after the new forms are released.

I did say already that I was talking about LTR, and I did say "going by the logic". I might have got it wrong at 28 days instead of 21.

Actually a lot of things on the naturalisation form are not statutory requirements. Having specific referees is one the things that is not required, but it is asked.

Employment is not a statutory requirement, but it is asked for on the from, etc etc.

And when you know that no form is actually required, then why discuss forms issue with people and tell them to use the new form. Why not tell them that since no form is required they can apply just by a handwritten application?

I won't need to "find" I already know. Just that I do not have the desire to bang on like you and give the message that I have the ultimate knowledge about everything.

Ayyubi72, I do not have 'ultimate knowledge' nor do I proclaim such, there is no-one that does, even the most experienced advisers get it wrong as the rules are often complex and commingled. Please do not take your anger out on me because I correct your statements.

Correcting satements in one thing, you just have the urge to have the last word in every matter. And by your own admission, since no form is required, how could I be wrong?

You just want to portray yoursleves as the most knowledgeable one on the forum. The discussion was about the form, and you just come up with "no form is actually required". Well, I know that. I too have read all the guidance A-Z many times. Just that I do not have the time to sit on computer all day, and copy and paste to show others as stupid, just to have my word as the last word on every matter.

Also, I do not think that there is always the need to explain the whole law/rules and regulations in-depth in every post. This is an online forum, and if a post answers someone specific query, then that is enough. There is no need to impart the whole grand knowledge you have in every matter.

The new form is available right now.

Yes it's just been released today. However, I'm concerned about the NARIC requirements.

I have raised concern that the KoLL requirement is stating that NARIC must deem the degree to have been taught in English. However, it appears that NARIC only provide a English Language Assessment for Bachelor degrees and not Masters or PhDs. Thus it should be a NARIC statement of comparability plus proof it was taught in English. I await a response.

Strangely in the new guide and booklet, I cannot find anything to indicate if you fulfilled the english language requirement for your entry clearance, you are exempt now, this is what I found instead:

If you have already satisfied the requirement to have sufficient knowledge of language and life in the UK, on or after 28 October 2013, you do not have to demonstrate it again.

Am I missing something? Does this mean now I have to go through this too, although I wrote IELTS at the time of my HSMP entry clearance?

InUkOnHsmp - yes I have the same question! Did they rush the form or not think it through? Or do they really expect us to write the IELTS again?

I think the form AN had been ill thought through and needs to be corrected, we'll wait and see.
