British Passport application for child born in UK

Hi All,

I need some guidelines of how I can apply for British passport for my son born in UK.

my 10 year ILR approved last week. My wife is currently on Tier 2 Dependent valid until Aug 2020.

My Son born in UK Sep 2017 holding Indian Passport, As soon my child got Indian passport he left to India with his Mother in November 2017 and came to UK in March 2019.

Do we need to apply for naturalization of the new born and then passport?

Any guidelines of
1. what the process is for Child British Passport and what it entails will be much appreciated.

some of the post says apply for RoA or CoE and then apply for a British passport

Passport at this stage is irrelevant as your child is not a British citizen.

You have to register the child as British on form MN1 first. Once approved and certificate of registration received, then you can look at British passport or RoA/CoE.

Note children are Registered. Only adults are naturalised.

Since my child was not in UK from November 2017 - March 2019.

No. A UK Born child has an Entitlement to register as British once either parent is granted ILR.
